Mohamed Sakr is an Egyptian filmmaker who practically grew up on film sets. As the son of a prolific director behind more than 30 tv series, he spent his childhood summers observing the filmmaking world and occasionally performing as a child actor. He later graduated from the American University in Cairo, where he won first prize for his graduation thesis film.
Before starting his own journey as a director, Sakr spent over a decade as an Assistant Director, working on major films, series, and over 100 commercials across the MENA region. His first narrative short film, A Short Ride (2026), reflects his passion for authentic, local stories. He is currently developing his second film while continuing to work in commercials.
He also find it weird to write about himself in 3rd person, but here we are. Discover some of "his" previous work as a Director and an AD [here].
